Commonly Asked Questions About Traveling During the COVID-19 Pandemic

You must buy the “Cancel for any Reason” benefit* (aka CFAR). The rules are very strict and must be adhered to otherwise a refund may not be forthcoming. This benefit allows you to cancel no matter the reason, including corona virus, as long as you cancel 48 hours or more prior to your scheduled departure date. You will recover 75% of your non-refundable trip cost.

You must purchase the plan within 21 days of the date of your initial trip deposit made toward your trip whether you paid a tour operator, a travel agency, an airline, a cruise line or any travel vendor. The date on your first deposit check or the date of your credit card transaction starts the 21-day count down.

The only plan that offers the “Cancel for any Reason” benefit is the Worldwide Trip Protector PLUS Plan. It is always offered as part of three options when you run a quote. It is the most enhanced plan.

If you want to cancel your trip out of concern for the corona virus, you need to have the “Cancel for any Reason” benefit which is only offered as part of the Worldwide Trip Protector PLUS Plan as mentioned above.* This benefit is a time sensitive coverage and not all travelers may be eligible. (Read paragraphs above).

You must be delayed for the time period listed on your plan while en-route to, from, or during your trip due to a covered reason.

Except for Interruption for any Reason coverage (provided 72 hours or more have passed since your actual departure date)**, Travel protection will not cover you if you miss your flight due to extra screenings at the airport for the coronavirus. Please allow extra time to get through security checkpoints.

If you test positive for the virus and are forced to cancel your trip, you would have to prove that you tested positive. You would then be able to start a claim and be refunded for your trip.

A warning or advisory issued by the State Department for any country is only covered if you purchase the “Cancel for any Reason” benefit as part of the Worldwide Trip Protector PLUS Plan within 21 days of your first trip deposit.

If your doctor thinks you shouldn’t travel due to your age, an underlying condition, or even just to be safe, this is only covered if you purchase the “Cancel for any Reason” benefit as part of the Worldwide Trip Protector PLUS Plan within 21 days of your first trip deposit.

Due to unique circumstances surrounding the corona virus, you can change your travel dates for a newly scheduled trip or request a credit voucher toward a new trip within two years of the original departure date provided you are no longer taking the impacted trip due to the virus. If travelers become ill with the virus while traveling, claims will be considered on the same basis as any other covered sickness.

If a traveler must leave their trip early because they become ill with the virus or if they are officially quarantined and cannot return home on the date they were to travel originally, claims will be paid if the Cancel for any Reason benefit was purchased under the Worldwide Trip Protector PLUS Plan.
